I'm not a ubuntu user but i found this : http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Intrepid Seems fine to install ubuntu ...
but i think you can read also debian reference http://www.debian.org/doc/user-manuals.en.html (debian is very similar to ubuntu) and print the refrence card ...
