It's still meant to. I've added this to requests for
compatibility (one from you actually ;) and to lessen
the differences between platforms. We most probably
don't need it though. I've just did a MinGW test, and
it installs so many crap in /bin, that I was also surprised ;)

The only one which I wanted to add is hbmk.bat as a
temp solution, until we rename hbmk2 to hbmk.
If group think hbmk2 is ready for prime time, I'd be
glad to remove this ugly hack, too.

So, If it were me, I'd delete _all_ synonyms, batch
files, shortcuts and harbour.cfg included.

Here is how a MinGW bin dir looks like now:
---
hb-build
hb-mkdyn
hb-mkslib
hbcc
hbcmp
hblnk
hbmk
hb-mkdyn.bat
hbcc.bat
hbcmp.bat
hblnk.bat
hbmk.bat
postinst.bat
hbmk.cfg
postinst.cmd
harbour.dll
harbourmt.dll
harbour.exe
hbdoc.exe
hbi18n.exe
hbmk2.exe
hbpp.exe
hbrun.exe
hbtest.exe
hb-func.sh
hb-mkdyn.sh
pack_src.sh
postinst.sh
---

Opinions on these?

Brgds,
Viktor
