I've looked into ChangeLog and there was an
entry not long ago which contained some copy pasted
error log parts as is, with UTF8 chars and tabs
with it and Notepad probably thought this is
an Unicode file because of it, and started to
append an UTF-8 BOM the beginning of it.
I'll remove those high chars from ChangeLog, so
such thing won't happen again with Notepad, but
I suggest using an alternative like np2 or
something similar. Besides their other pluses,
they won't add anything like that to a file
without users' knowledge.
