I don't know who herds the Hampshire cats these days, but here's a request from lugmaster for whomever that is.
Al ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Gavin Westwood via lugmaster <lugmas...@mailman.lug.org.uk> Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2025 at 18:40 Subject: [lugmaster] LUG status check-in To: UK LUG Masters' private discussion <lugmas...@mailman.lug.org.uk> Cc: Gavin Westwood <lugadmin2...@gavinwestwood.co.uk> Hello Lugmasters. I'm in the process of looking through LUG mailing lists and other details to make sure they are active, in preparation for future migration work and to try to ensure that I'm not doing unnecessary work for LUGs that have ceased, as well as to ensure that visitors are provided correct information. To this end, please could you check your LUG listing (including the Lugmaster name and email address) via https://lug.org.uk/lugs/ and do one of the following: - Log an issue at https://github.com/lugorguk/lug.org.uk-website/issues with any changes necessary; *or* - Create a pull request with the appropriate changes to your LUG's listing against the "lug_status_update_2025" branch ( https://github.com/lugorguk/lug.org.uk-website/tree/lug_status_update_2025), where I will initially be applying the changes; *or* - Message me directly with any changes, or to confirm that the LUG details are correct and nothing needs changing. As well as helping us ensure that we are showing the correct details for your LUG, I will update the "Entry last updated" date which will help keep your LUG listing appearing 'fresh' to the search engines and visitors. Additionally, it is worth noting that, if your LUG has active social media presence or chat channel (e.g IRC, Telegram, Discord), we can also add those to your LUG listing (see, for example, the 'Silicon Corridor <https://lug.org.uk/lugs/South-East/Berkshire%20and%20Thames%20Valley%20-%20Silicon%20Corridor/>' and Portsmouth <https://lug.org.uk/lugs/South-East/Portsmouth%20and%20South-East%20Hampshire/> LUG listings). To request this, please log an issue on GitHub as above with the details, or email me directly. Please check that any URLs to the channel that you provide to us are set up not to expire (where they default to be time-limited). If you are aware of any other LUGs that have stopped operating or changed Lugmaster, please can you post that to the Lugmaster list to allow other Lugmasters to chip in if they can confirm or have information to the contrary. I will also send an email of LUGs that I currently believe to be inactive in the next few days for other Lugmaster to advise if any might be incorrect. Any LUGs that haven't checked in by the start of May, I will attempt to reach out to the last-known Lugmaster and, failing that, other contact addresses to check the LUG's status before we set them to inactive (unless we host the mailing list and I can see activity in the past year).
