This is your personal opinion. I use plain externalpipe and not externalpipe-eternal. I use tmux (which is recommended in the FAQ[1]) to scroll back and much more (split screen, copy+paste, search...). [1]: https://git.suckless.org/st/file/FAQ.html#l24
