Thanks! I am working on a project that is as simple as it gets. My
mother used to buy random sewing stuff at garage sales, and I have two
rhinestone belt buckles she picked up. I don't like rhinestone belt
buckles for dresses, but I kept them around. I was going through my
belt buckles and realized that if I just thread a velvet ribbon through
each of them, like a belt but shorter, I could make two great faux
Edwardian chokers. The difficulty being that it turns out I actually
have no velvet ribbon scraps. So now I have to go buy ribbon for
them! I also bought some hats cheap on eBay, since when you buy a
straw or felt hat, you are mostly paying for the decorations. So I
should probably just buy velvet ribbon for hats at the same time.
Does anyone know a source for good quality velvet ribbon in a variety of
colors? Preferably cotton and definitely not obviously polyester? And
definitely not papery holiday ribbon? Regarding the buckles, one needs 1
inch ribbon and one needs 1 1/4 inch ribbon. Any sources for millinery
flowers are welcome too.

Hi Fran, it is so nice to see your name and company on my computer screen
again. I miss reading your postings whether they be here, on the old (now
defunct) Stitcher's Guild and Pattern Review. I have not been doing costume
sewing lately. Mostly because my work life had been consuming and requiring me
to take more classes which is also time consuming. We have also been having
renovations in the house which has caused me to cover all my machines and
fabric with drop cloths to protect them from the dust. I would love to learn
more about costume even if everyone has been busy with other things, perhaps
some discussion of any new books related to costume? Sewing and books are my
two favorite things (along with good food....).
