Hi Hugo,

You can use a virtual build machine for this purpose. See
https://guix.gnu.org/manual/1.5.0/en/html_node/Virtualization-Services.html#build_002dvm

Thanks! I recall reading that before, but did not internalize the time offset feature, and I forgot the term "time trap". (I searched the manual for 'reproduc', which apparently does not occur in that section.)

I have a build-vm running now, according to `sudo guix offload status`, but I can't figure out how to send build jobs to it. I guess the "basic scheduler that attempts to select the best machine" will not select it.

Manually restarting the guix-daemon with `--max-jobs=0` seems to do nothing. (According to the manual it should force offloading.)

I suppose I could somehow ssh into the VM and start the jobs manually, but I can't figure out how to do that either... `sudo herd configuration build-vm` seems to indicate that it is possible to set a password though.

The manual makes it look very easy, e.g. in the "guix time-machine"; am I missing something trivial?

Hugo
