For me it looks ok.

I see two further alternatives:
1. Create a patch from the commits that fix the issue and add that on
top of the latest release (I would avoid this)
2. Ping the project, so that they release.

#2 I would do anyways, otherwise we are going to carry this
customization forever, and it looks
like that there is work on the project, so this might be even coming
quickly once they are aware.

Would you take this on, or should I ping them?
