I think "cheats" like the one proposed here should be considered a good
thing that enable Guix to work on a platform that from a freedom
perspective appears similar to any Intel/AMD/Arm laptop, which Guix also
support.

The real "cheat" here would be to make a compromise and include the
small piece of non-free blob just because it make things work.

Let's call what Vagrant has shown a "hack" instead of "cheat" :)
