Hi guixers,

Should we include wiggle as a dependency of Emacs since it is used by the diff-wiggle function from diff-mode.el?

For my part — an enthusiastic Emacs user — I'd be a little hesitant to go down the path of adding explicit package dependencies for runtime requirements of obscure commands. I would hate to think that one day I wouldn't be able to install or build the Emacs guix package because something was broken in the wiggle guix package. But I'm open minded
to further arguments for this.

I agree with you, Emacs has a ton of stuff bundled with it, and I think including such things would make for an unpleasant experience for most users. One of the joys of Emacs is building a system tailored for you, and that includes installing other software in many cases.

Noting also that Debian’s packages agree with this: they don’t depend on much.

It would be nice, I suppose, if Guix had something like "recommended packages" in Debian.

I agree that this would be nice.
