Hello Guix,
• Availability: From what they told us, they didn’t experience
any
serious downtime over the last year or so. (I did see
someone
online suggest otherwise so if you have experience, please
share.
FWIW, over 3+ months of Guix-Science, I’ve seen a couple of
1–2h
downtime notifications from them and experienced slowness
once, but
that’s about it.)
Codeberg hosts my personal Guix channel and substantially all my
public projects, thus gets exercised regularly. Since my channel
is hosted there, it must be available for `guix pull' to function.
I haven’t had a single instance where a Codeberg outage prevented
this from working. In contrast, Savannah has had a handful of
outages over the same period. I’m in the US, in the Pacific time
zone.
I’ve seen two kinds of Codeberg outages: maintenance windows and
DDoS attacks. The maintenance windows are always communicated in
advance and I personally haven’t been impacted by them. DDoS
attacks have had some small impact. DDoS attacks aren’t unique to
Codeberg, and I don’t feel that a service should be judged
negatively because some inconsiderate people decided to make
others’ lives difficult.
