Hi all, I just finished inviting contributors to take the Guix Survey [0]. Overall, there are around 485 active contributors who've sent patches to the project in the last two years. That's an amazing figure for a volunteer project.
As you'd expect there are many long-term contributors who've been working in the project since the early days. There are also new people taking part, I found it interesting that in 2024 we've had roughly 130 new people send patches to the project. As you'd expect there's a range of contributions - from people sending in a single patch, to many sending 10-20, and then long-term contributors who've sent hundreds and in a hand full of cases over 1000 patches! Of course, the number of patches isn't an indicator of the value of someone's contribution. Rather, I take it to show the variety of contributions around Guix, and the community that's grown around it. Note that this isn't a scientific study, it shows addresses not people and while I did try my best to find duplicates, I'm human so may have munged some parts - take the numbers as indicative! Steve / Futurile [0] this is from going through the Patchworks instance and looking at each contributor, it shows the number of patches they've sent (e.g. https://patches.guix-patches.cbaines.net/project/guix-patches/list/?series=&submitter=539)
