Hi, While looking for something else, I came across a Mastodon post by Ludovic about large store folders running out of space on ext4. [1]
In the thread from July, Ludovic asked about setting 'large_dir' by default on ext4. [2] Efraim wondered about it too, but likewise received no reply. [3] It is not a no-brainer because for some time GRUB2 could not boot from such filesystems. [4] GRUB 2.12 seems to supports 'large_dir' [5] and landed in Guix [6] a few weeks before the Mastodon thread, although I haven't tried using the option myself. Is 'large_dir' the default for ext4 in the installer now, or should it be? Should the manual mention the option for those who partition their own drives? Finally, should I enable 'large_dir' for the stores on my own equipment? Thanks! Kind regards Felix [1] https://toot.aquilenet.fr/@civodul/112745675405525873 [2] https://toot.aquilenet.fr/@civodul/112745811311572055 [3] https://tooot.im/@efraim/112746011161575435 [4] https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?61606 [5] https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/grub.git/commit/?id=2e9fa73a040462b81bfbfe56c0bc7ad2d30b446b [6] https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/guix.git/commit/?id=e6facbe069ba536a6bb9dffc582a78f982596be6
