Old Macs are the only machines we know of that otherwise don’t work. Lenovo Ideapad 100S had problems with Guix 0.15.0, but it seems already fixed and unrelated. There may be other affected machines. As Thomas Schmitt wrote in his last e-mail, there are other advantages when users want or need to modify an install USB drive. If I understand correctly, Thomas Schmitt and Danny Milosavljevic would rather work on a Guile implementation instead of submitting the current patch to use a shell script from xorriso for the 1.0 release (?).
