Does it work if you use the "normal" daemon?  There's usually no need to
run the daemon from git unless you are hacking on it.

Ah, I just went over

without questioning the need or usefulness of running the daemon in this particular case. Still unfortunate that it defaults to building *everything*.

With only `./pre-inst-env guix system reconfigure /etc/config.scm` things work now.
