Hi Leo, just found this pending issue. My patch was merged into libarchive trunk on 11th December, too late to make it into libarchive-3.2.2. It will be public when 3.3.x series comes out (any time soon), so I guess it does not make sense to fix on GUIX side anymore (would be better to update librachive version).
