Thanks again, but if you don't mind I'll just leave this in your hands for now: it's not my current focus, and there's not that much I can do with it anyway because of the incompatibilities that now exist between 1.4 and 1.6/1.8. It'll have to sit in the pot (with guile-sdl and tastiera-dura) marked "good stuff that thi has done in 1.4, and which I hope can be resolved one day back into the 1.6/1.8 main line".
