Gtk 1 is still distributed. So you can bet Gtk 2 will continue to be
distributed for years. Unless Gtk 3 has new capabilities useful to
your software, don't migrate!
I have considered what you are suggesting or even start migrating to
Qt. I thought I was close to having a good conversion with the
exception of being able to draw. I have learned about event filters and
can now see the raw draw event so maybe I still have a way.
