Indeed, yep; with the help of a few people in #gtk+ on gimpnet, I was able to figure this out late last night.
Your patch fixes exactly what we too found to be the problem. It feels like a reportable bug in glade. Though I'm about to try glade 3.6 for GtkBuilder purposes, so I'll see if it's already fixed there before reporting.
