Hi - Over the weekend, I posted a question about a problem I was having running the SuSE-built RPM for DevHelp 7.0:
devhelp (under default KDE 3.1 desktop, SuSE 8.2) => (devhelp:2783): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line 1319 (g_object_ref): assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed ... I tried building and debugging the DevHelp source: 1. DevHelp 9.x wouldn't build at all (without updating everything). 2. Once I successfully built my own DevHelp 7.x, it died with exactly the same "assert error"/segmentation fault. The closest I came to debugging the root cause was that it died in "gtk_widget_show_all()" after successfully creating the main window in "dh_window_new()". 3. Problems 1) and 2) were with SuSE 8.2. The DevHelp (v 8.01) that comes with SuSE 9.2, I discovered this morning, works with no problem. So I have DevHelp running on SuSE 9.2 (where I need it most), and I've given up trying to get it working on SuSE 8.2. But why should the GTK+ documentation be limited to DevHelp (or static HTML pages)? Why can't they be also be made available in (easily indexed/searchable) "man" and/or "info" formats? I'd be happy to help. How would I go about it? Thank you in advance ..
