Maybe you saw this message if you’re subscribed to the mailing list, but
GRUB 2.14 release candidate 1 is now available:

To build GRUB from source you need some dependencies, there are listed in
here
https://cgit.git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/grub.git/tree/INSTALL

To build from the release candidate archive, the high level steps are
