It was added because Okuji wanted something short for this.  I do not
care as long as there is a long command.

Marco is right. This was my request. @ is just a command aliased for
menuentry, and I like it. Since you are not obligated to use @, please do not
remove it.

Offering multiple commands that do the same thing is not a good design philosphy, and from the other comments on this subject I know I'm not alone in that belief. No offense, but I don't think one developer liking it is a good enough reason.

I still would like to see it removed.
