The significant changes in this version are:
- The signature for the Update Notification File has been changed to use
JSON Web Signature/Keys, in part as a better fix to the race conditions
initially fixed in v04.
- References to Snapshot/Delta files must now be relative URLs to the
Update Notification File, to avoid cross-origin issues.
- The client is now required to check whether the server has been
rewriting the content of older Snapshot/Delta files.
- An optional metadata key was added to the UNF.
Implementation status:
- v05 is fully implemented in IRRD (git main branch only) for server and
client
- RIPE db’s server implementation is currently at v04 and expects to
update for v05 this year
- RIPE db’s client implementation will follow later
- With some temporary v04<>v05 compatibility shims, IRRD can mirror from
a RIPE db instance, including key rotation, the last untested feature
