Also, for historical reasons our documentation characterizes "fonts"
per se as being "mounted", but that's not completely accurate.
Device-independent troffs, when "mounting a font", actually read only
its font description file, whose format is documented in groff_font(5).

Maybe I should add a footnote to our Texinfo manual on this point.
