Since a couple of threads are going on the subject of formatting chemical diagrams with groff...
Would someone like to volunteer to take over maintenance of GNU chem? It's one of several preprocessors formerly maintained by Bernd Warken, but he's been gone for a long time. It's been my intention to work on it and address some open bugs, but I have managed to keep myself pretty busy with other aspects of groff and feel close to saturated. Bernd's version of chem is written in Perl. He placed it under the GNU GPL, version 2. It's a "contrib" project. Files in the contrib/ subdirectory of the source distribution are not strictly part of groff. That is, they are distributed with it and are Free Software <https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.en.html>, but they are not considered essential parts of the distribution. Further, they may bear licenses other than the GPL or the FSF does not administer their copyrights. To determine their copyright status and licensing, see the "COPYRIGHT" file in the appropriate subdirectory of contrib/. Any takers? Regards, Branden
