In the beginning header layout varied from edition to edition. The first edition was printed one-sided with the date left and title right. Then came two-sided printing with a double title, good for printing either recto or verso. Some editions, but not all, displayed the edition number in the center. Putting the title in the center would be a perfectly reasonable change. Doug
