I agree with your translation, but I'd replace "s'il on" with "si on"
I did make a mistake with "s'il on" however the choice between "si l'on"
and "si on" is not obvious as the two are correct.
I ultimately agree with you and we should choose "si on".
It's closer to present-day French.
