Web: savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=groff I miss comments, so that the patch (the new part) alone will be easy to understand.
1) what is it doing (on the meta plain) 2) why is it here in the code and not some other place 3) why is it doing it (the reason) 4) ? Possible comments: 1. part Give the page header a sensible text before the first (next) page break, so its text will appear on the first (next) page. 2. part Give the page footer its text after the (first) page break, so it will _not_ appear on the first (previous) page. 3. part (Add an explanation about the macro "an-header".) N.B. The reader of a patch should not have to know in advance, what the variables mean. Patches are an ideal opportunity to add explanations to any piece of code (that appears in the patch). -- Bjarni I. Gislason
