The problem then must be gentoo's patch to enable parallel builds. But I tried a parallel build when I built master, Gentoo's parallel-mom patch will not be required for future releases. Of the two commits Dave noted, 290eaaac6cfc, *is* the Gentoo patch in question, and so 681919b36d47 also should get added to the ebuild.
