Check the advance width of `ł' in the fonts AFM file. It should be (approximately) the same as with `l'. . Check the output of afmtodit. Again the glyph entity `/l' should have (approximately) the same width as `l'. If this doesn't help please send me the font (compressed!) for further investigation.
