This depends entirely on the fileset setting, see: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spectrum-scale/5.1.2?topic=reference-mmchfileset-command “allow-permission-change” We typically have file-sets set to chmodAndUpdateAcl, though not exclusively, I think it was some quirky software that tested the permissions after doing something and didn’t like the updatewithAcl thing … Simon
