The "Other/Android Background Services" module is obsolete and should be
removed:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Modules/Other#Android_Background_Services

The code and services that it covers have changed ownership. First, the
github repository https://github.com/mozilla-services/android-sync was
decommissioned in 2015 and all development moved to mozilla-central. The
code at that time was owned by Fennec peers: Richard Newman and myself
(among others). Now that responsibility is with the Firefox Accounts and
Sync teams; Grisha Kruglov is the true owner. But in reality the code is
orphaned and scheduled for decommission and replacement by the Application
Services Rust FxA + Sync 1.5 in
https://github.com/mozilla/application-services. (It might be that the
Application Services stack should be a module, but it hasn't seemed
necessary to date, and it shouldn't stop removing obsolete modules.)

Can I please have approval from the Module System Owners to remove it,
officially subsuming any remaining technical pieces into the Firefox for
Android module?

Nick
