Stylo (which shipped as part of Firefox 57) integrated Servo's style system into Gecko. The old Gecko style system is still around for a few more releases, until we can switch chrome usage and switch Firefox for Android over to Stylo. This means that right now there are three parts to the style system code:
* the code that is common to both the Gecko and Servo style systems, and connects both of them to the rest of Gecko, * the Servo style system, which is covered by Servo's review policies rather than Gecko's, and * the Gecko style system, which will be going away soon but hasn't yet. While I've been style system module owner for a long time, at this point I'm not as knowledgable about the first two pieces here as a number of other people are, and I think it's (past) time to hand off module ownership. ** Therefore I'm proposing that Cameron McCormack (heycam) replace me as module owner of the style system. ** Cameron has significant experience working on the old (Gecko) style system, and has been part of the Stylo team since the beginning of the Stylo project. He has a strong understanding of the requirements of a style engine for the Web and of the design (both strengths and weaknesses) of our current style systems. And he's willing to take over as module owner. I think some of the other members of the stylo team should be added as peers, but I'm going to let Cameron do that after he becomes owner. And don't worry -- I'm not going anywhere. I still own three other modules. -David -- 𝄞 L.
