What are the legal goals of an IT contributor agreement? I presume that
such an agreement would include things about confidentiality of data and
such. The commit agreement doesn't have or need any provisions such as
this, and I expect that for many corporate contributors, such an
agreement would require different and more legal review.
"Trust" enforced by a legal agreement should be fairly specific:
trusting somebody to commit code properly, respect copyright in the
codebase, and follow the review rules seems like a fundamentally
different legal problem than trusting people to keep IT information
confidential, not install backdoors, or whatever else an IT agreement
would require.
So offhand, I don't see that combining the two agreements would serve
useful goals and might cause additional problems. However, I'm saying
this without fully understanding the goals of the IT agreement.
