It would be hard to argue that Google Charts, aka GViz, is the company recommended visualization library since Google doesn't support it with any headcount at this time. It is being used by over 450 projects, and I will continue to contribute my 20% time, though that is not enough time to do all that might be expected. My focus has been to get the code ready for open sourcing, so Google can take advantage of free support from the much larger community of users. ;)
In Cloud, there are a couple other choices you should consider, in addition to the three dozen uses of GViz <https://source.corp.google.com/search?q=cloud%20file:gviz%2Fdevel%2FBUILD&sq=package:piper%20file:%2F%2Fdepot> you can find. The Vitruvius project with its small team is building mostly network diagrams, and a couple more typical charts. There is also the AwesomeCharts project with a more substantial team, developing the more typical charts used mostly for pantheon monitoring.
