Hi group. This problem sounds very similar to problem report 2656 (which was classified as "WontFix") and also I believe Group member "Conor" said something about it as well (no resolution there either). Anyway, to see what is happening go to:
http://home.comcast.net/~dsemiller/ProjOvtest_GLMP.html This was originally just a first test of using the ProjectedOverlay.js code that John D. Coryat wrote and modified for GM version 3 with our overlays. While it would be more desirable to use tiles, we're producing a great many overlays and tiling all of these PNG images would require a good amount of bookkeeping (might eventually explore using MapServer, but that's another time). Anyway, the problem is occurring with IE8 where if you zoom in beyond zoom level 8, the overlay disappears. Upon zooming back out, the overlay turns completely opaque and one cannot change it via the opacity control that's on the page. This doesn't occur with Firefox 3.6.15. While I have no doubt what William said in report 2656 is valid (i.e IE width limitation between 150000 and 200000), the image width here is only 50433px at zoom 9 when this occurs. Any ideas other than to tell our customers to upgrade to IE9 or use Firefox?
