The google maps API v3 just came out of labs last spring.  v2 of the
google maps API requires keys per domain and is most likely what that
code base uses. In which case:
1. you should ask your questions in the v2 group
http://groups.google.com/group/google-maps-api/topics
2. you will need a key for each domain until they support v3 (it is
enough different that it won't just "work"), or figure out a way
around it (iframes perhaps, all pointing to a common domain with a
single key).
