Thank you for the links. I'd already seen them and used them as a
model. I think my problem was closure again. I've put it into a
separate function and it's working now.

I'm sorry if the use of a password protected system is frowned upon.
Is it that big a deal? You don't have to register, just enter the
userid and password I've given. Unfortunately I'm having to use a live
database and I simply can't allow unrestricted access to it.
