I'd have to design something separate from the project I'm working on.
Will try to do this when I have a chance.

I found that by changing the opacity of the set of lines I lay down to
0.5 and then leaving the last drawn line to 1 showed the issue more
clearly. The last drawn line is appearing behind the other lines at
locations that seem to be related to where tiles are being redrawn,
but its very random.  I can physically see the zindex property
changing in firebug as I pan around.
