Well if there is missing information in history (which humans assume is time based) the interface should indicate this somehow. In other words - your argument explains the cause, but it doesn't cancel the fact that history browser doesn't fulfill its main objective. The consequence from the user point of view is that browser displays only some arbitrary pieces of historical data, meaning it easily skips important history - and therefore it is badly broken.
I understand that HG allows to commit stuff with dates badly broken (i.e. subsequent commits with date earlier that parents). What am I looking to is how to make the user experience better. The majority of folks hope that Google Code organizes source code information and allows to search history conveniently.
