Indeed, looks like an excellent FR -- could you please enter it at

? (PK's FR about implicit use of GCS is also good, but I can see the
technical difficulties with that one in receiving emails, risking a DOS
attack by filling up an app's GCS by just sending it large mails -- OTOH I
see no technical difficulties with dispatching all email reception to a
non-default module, just as can be done for cron jobs and task queues, so
this FR might enjoy a faster reaction time -- fingers crossed).
