I too am seeing a lot more instances being created. My app is normally served by a single instance, with a second being invoked maybe 2-5 times a day, but just spikes. Now it is constantly running around 4-5 instances. I'm not being billed for them, billing has remained about the same, but it is causing latency issues - as new instances keep getting created and destroyed users keep seeing latency spikes while the instances fire up.
I have made no changes to code or configuration for several weeks.
