They also are doing a pretty good job Hijacking search results using 302 and alternate page presentation.. Yeah. I'm putting them in the kind of sleazy category. And it looks like most of what they are doing is using GAE as a Caching Proxy to serve their app. Though it looks like they a remove ads from the page replacing them with their own. Along with other things that pretty heavily violate copyright. Not who I would hold up as a shining example of the type of app GAE supports. http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2010/06/new-york-times-forces-apple-to-pull-p opular-pulse-ipad-newsreader/ at $4 per user I'm sure they were quite profitable. I don't know what they do. But in terms of Unique visitors they are smaller than most of my clients 10k visitor a day. Certainly not what I would lable "Huge Scale" But at the same time realize that CDNinabox.com lowered LockerGnome.com's hosting costs by $2500 a month, and Lowered Jeff Probst's spiky traffic by $7k a month. But likely Pulse didn't adjust their budget after the price change. All this great stuff about how they can scale huge and everything. Intrigued about what the heck "pulse" is, I clicked the link at the bottom of the entry. It took me to www.pulse.me which said: App Engine Error Over Quota This Google App Engine application is temporarily over its serving quota.
