I have the same problem as Moretto. My problem was that I signed on App Engine using a gmail account. Then I decided to cancel the App Engine Account. Then I cancelled the whole gmail account. After buying a Google Apps Account, I can not get verified, because the App Engine still remembers my mobile number from that App Engine I cancelled!!!
How can I fix this problem?? I have to say that it is far better ways to do this, e.g. requiring a Google Checkout account.
