End cursors allow you to set a query to say, "stop this query when you get to this cursor". Docs will be up soon. The Javadocs are already up:

This is most useful for breaking up work in task queues. It has the advantage over using offsets such as "start at cursor1 and get the next N elements" because if we insert new keys b2 and b3 such that your index looks like this: a, b, b2, b3, c, d, e, f, g Keys between cursor1 and cursor 2 now reference b2 and b3. You can now break up work and be insert-proof.
