Not exactly the same, but a similar mechanism exists:

        select {
        case x := <-ch:
                ...
        default:
                ... ch is empty
        }

> waitfull(ch)

Dtto

        select {
        case ch <- x:
                ...
        default:
                ... ch is full
        }
