I don't know where from the discussion of things like 'fear' and
'irrational' comes from, so let me ignore that part.

Even though I listed Gmail/Google account as an option, let me remark that
the Go project is maintained by Google, so I see nothing surprising if a
contributor uses a Google account. OTOH, Microsoft does not maintain the Go
project, so I see no reason to require use of a Microsoft account for
contributing.

But the most important thing is that no one is suggesting "eschewing
GitHub". The topic of this thread was listed in the OP: How to make it
easy/easier for people without a MS account to contribute to the project.
This does not affect users having/using/creating MS accounts at all.

Full disclosure: Yes, I do not touch anything Microsoft unless my employer
needs that. I'm even lucky enough to have a $DAYJOB that does not require
it. But that was not discussed or mentioned and it's _not_ the topic. Let's
please stay on topic, thank you.
