I don't know where from the discussion of things like 'fear' and 'irrational' comes from, so let me ignore that part. Wrt "Google tied identity is acceptable but a GitHub one is not": Even though I listed Gmail/Google account as an option, let me remark that the Go project is maintained by Google, so I see nothing surprising if a contributor uses a Google account. OTOH, Microsoft does not maintain the Go project, so I see no reason to require use of a Microsoft account for contributing. But the most important thing is that no one is suggesting "eschewing GitHub". The topic of this thread was listed in the OP: How to make it easy/easier for people without a MS account to contribute to the project. This does not affect users having/using/creating MS accounts at all. Full disclosure: Yes, I do not touch anything Microsoft unless my employer needs that. I'm even lucky enough to have a $DAYJOB that does not require it. But that was not discussed or mentioned and it's _not_ the topic. Let's please stay on topic, thank you. -- -j -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "golang-nuts" group.
