I think the Pyromania's question was because:

    .service != .socket

It seems reasonable to mask both the .service and .socket
units if they exist.  While the .service might only be
socket activated, if you know you don't ever want it to be
started, masking it won't hurt.  At worst, it's mild
overkill.
