Emacs can cache passphrases and expire them automatically. The related
configuration variables have changed quite recently but check these:

    password-cache
    password-cache-expiry
    mml2015-cache-passphrase
    mml2015-passphrase-cache-expiry
    mml-secure-cache-passphrase
    mml-secure-passphrase-cache-expiry
