+1 I've made the same point before, at least once. I hate to repeat myself, but a real SSL cert really is the way to go here. CAcert is charming and all, but we do not want to encourage people to click past the "untrusted" warning, and there is more than ample evidence that users generally, particularly users who are new to cryptography, lack the requisite knowledge to make good decisions about if/when to do so. I have no connection to StartSSL other than "satisfied non-paying 'customer'" but they do the trick, and the price is right. There are other free options as well, as was pointed out here recently. It doesn't matter to me which one y'all choose, but please, choose one and let's move on.
